And remember, Mormon belief is that angels are humans like us, but either resurrected or not yet born.

if i'm not mistaken blonde people are the master race. the one with superior powers that enable you conjure up the heavens, part the waters, and bang like a thousand blonde virgins one for each galaxy you'll create. or many blondes per galaxy. something like that.

the 80% of the population of this planet with brown eyes like myself, i guess will have to watch porno throughout the eternities. no action for us.

AND...they also wear golden japanese-like sandals and white translucent robes. not sure if i'd like to wear that skirt thing.

But you could tell that they thought the supervising angel character played by Della Reese was all wrong. But what can you expect from Hollywood? To be fair, I'm sure that there are a number ofr Mormons who are okay with the idea of non-white angels (as long as the wardrobe glows intensely white). They just can't figure out how it could be. An angel would have to be endowed and prior to 1978 that was not possible for black people, so there's no pool of eligible angel candidates to draw from. The Lamanites turn white long before they are righteous enough to become glowing angels, so that wouldn't work. That only leaves Asian, but they drink green tea and Word of Wisdom violators can't become angels.

So, when you think about it, it's up to white Mormons from Utah, Colorado (and on rare occasions, Arizona and Utah) to fill the angel slots. As Neal Maxwell would have said: "That's just the way things really are."

;o)

The correct teaching is that it's up to white Mormons from Utah and Idaho (and, on rare occasions, from California, Arizona and Colorado) to fill the angel slots.

Why blame this on Mormons? See any in the Sistene Chapel? Last Supper? Ever see a black pope? Hmmm..... Seems endemic among white folk, not just Mormons.

Just sayin'...

"There have also been ministering angels in the Church which were of Satan appearing as an angel of light. A sister in the state of New York had a vision, who said it was told her that if she would go to a certain place in the woods, an angel would appear to her.

She went at the appointed time, and saw a ***glorious personage descending, arrayed in white, with sandy colored hair***;
he commenced and told her to fear God, and said that her husband was called to do great things, but that he must not go more than one hundred miles from home, or he would not return; whereas God had called him to go to the ends of the earth, and he has since been more than one thousand miles from home, and is yet alive. Many true things were spoken by this personage, and many things that were false.

How, it may be asked, was this known to be a bad angel? By the color of his hair; that is one of the signs that he can be known by, and by his contradicting a former revelation." - History of the Church, volume 4, chapter 33

Why do all mormon angels appear white with sandy colored hair?

And what of the popular depiction of the "angels" ministering to the children in 3Nephi, with their white skin and light colored hair?

Hmmm...

You don't get suntans or sunburns from Kolob because it's not the sun, so melanin is not necessary. Yes, this is both doctrinal and urinal, so don't try to argue the point.

Remember the Lamanites turning "white and delightsome" after they accept the Gospel? That means that they believe that all resurrected people would turn white, no matter what colour they were as a human being.

Simple as that. Once upon a time I think they teached that everybody really was blonde and delightsome and that when we ressurect we'll become that again if we weren't already in our earthly life.

This is something I never figured out. If Jesus was from the mideast region of the world. Arent people from that area of the world have more skin color than people from the northern areas of the world?

Shouldnt pictures of Jesus have him looking more middle-eastern looking? Not like a guy from, say Norway?

Same reason Joe said the Garden of Eden/cradle of civilzation was in Missouri. So we'd all feel special.

Sorry to throw cold water on this fun fest but if you study Christian art you will find that ALL angels are white if not exactly delightsome. I think you would have to search quite awhile to find a non-white angel in the history of Christian art. Yes, I know, it's fun to pick on the Mombies but in this case, they were just stepping in line behind all the other artists who depicted angels as white guys with wings.

And, by the way, why no FEMALE angels? Hmmmm??

No they aren't! You guys didn't listen in church. Mormon female angels are those "special spirits" that didn't get married in this life because they were ugly or obese or just plain too special. They become ministering angels.

Sheesh!

You do err, Ron.

You forget that those "special spirits" in this life are promised that they'll "get some" in the hereafter. And since everything is perfect in the CK and you can only get condoms in the TK, conception is 100%.

Dude! Now way. I shit you not. There are angels that will wipe asses and pat people on the head through the eternities. They get zippo sex. Check it out:

Who are these angels? The Lord has revealed that “there are no angels who minister to this earth but those who do belong or have belonged to it” (Doctrine and Covenants 130:5). Such personages may be spirits—who have not yet been born into mortality or have lived on the earth but who have not yet been resurrected—or beings with tangible bodies who have been either resurrected or translated. (Doctrine and Covenants 129:1–9 gives one of the meanings of the term angels as “resurrected personages” and distinguishes between them and “spirits,” acknowledging that either may appear. Many additional scriptures illustrate that the term angels may refer both to spirits and to resurrected or translated beings.) [2]
Elder James E. Faust said,

I would like to say a word about the ministering of angels. In ancient and modern times angels have appeared and given instruction, warnings, and direction, which benefited the people they visited. We do not consciously realize the extent to which ministering angels affect our lives. President Joseph F. Smith said, “In like manner our fathers and mothers, brothers, sisters and friends who have passed away from this earth, having been faithful, and worthy to enjoy these rights and privileges, may have a mission given them to visit their relatives and friends upon the earth again, bringing from the divine Presence messages of love, of warning, or reproof and instruction, to those whom they had learned to love in the flesh.” [3] Many of us feel that we have had this experience. Their ministry has been and is an important part of the gospel. Angels ministered to Joseph Smith as he reestablished the gospel in its fulness. [4] None of them get laid in the hereafter [5].

If people really paid attention to some of the descriptions of angels in the bible, I doubt they would be so enamoured of them.

If I remember correctly, a cherub is not a cute chubby baby with wings and rosy cheeks- it's a creature with a thousand wings and eyes. IMO, the angels we see depicted in most art come more from the Roman version of gods.

Take your pick:

a) because Joseph (scum scam con artist) Smith was too.
b) the Hill Cumorah was in the Caucasus (new unlimited geography model)
c) Moroni was of a darker hue until he met Chuck Norris. The rest followed suit.
d) even mormons themselves laughed at pictures of green angels in spacesuits flying UFOs. Revelation followed soon after.

are depicted in art the same way as the nationality/race of the believers.
I've seen over 500 Creches, made by dozens of different groups and they all look like their believers: hair, skin color, etc.
No, not all angels are Caucasians. And not all nativity scenes are Caucasians either.
Mormon art tends to follow the traditional Christian art of the ages.
