I am going in for a complete hip replacement on Thursday. I have tried everything from injections to PT to massage to whatever and I just can't deal with the pain any longer. I will admit, I am a bit scared and/or nervous, but if anything happens, My daughter Sara and my ex have everything they need to take care of things. Wish me luck!

Have a good one!

I wanted one, but they told me it would not help, as it was not a joint problem. It's sciatica. Yoga helps for that.

I have that sciatica also, but the joint is clearly damaged and worn - very visible on x-ray.

A family member had both hips removed (seperately) and there just wasn't a whole lot of the natural hip left in either case. The images didn't tell the whole story. My loved one has been very happy with the new hips, though.

Think positive. I'm sure it will go well. Try to walk as much as you can once they get you up and moving.

I think it helps if the hospital staff can put you on a warming table after surgury. If the hospital doesn't have this, tell your family members to bring a couple of warm, fluffy blankets for you in case you feel especially chilled coming out of anesthesia.

I've had both hips replaced and highly recommend getting it done if you are dealing with pain. I'm starting to think a shoulder replacement is in my future.

Good luck with yours!

I've been told I may have to do that also --- down stream.
My best wishes. Hope you have a fantastic doctor, and excellent care and do well with no complications!
Many folks seem to be doing very well with this kind of surgery!
It's wonderful to be pain free.

Thank you all so much for you well wishes. I am feeling the love - and it is much appreciated. I really can't imagine a day without pain, but I am so looking forward to it. I plan to be really good in 10 days - that's my goal and I'm stickin' to it. Glad to hear that those of you who've had it done are doing well. The thing that's been the hardest for me to accept is that I even need this surgery and I am only 50. UGH!
