My TBM FIL & I were talking last night about a mutual aquaintance when my FIL mentioned that he had just been called to serve as a Ward Fellowshipper. This is an older retired gentleman. WTF?
Is this a new name for Ward Usher or is this a new calling?
What is a Ward Fellowshipper? A greeter? A hander-outer of Ward Bulletins? My FIL wasn't sure what his duties are.
It's kind of humorous that this brother was given this calling because my FIL's Ward requires all its members to come to church 15 minutes early to be silent in their seats, listening to prelude music and being reverent before the start of Sacrament. They even have "reverence children" standing up next to either side of the pulpit with their arms folded and heads bowed. The conductor starts the meeting by identifying their purpose and thanking them before dismissing them to sit with their families. Has anyone seen this kind of nonsense?
If this is a meet and greet calling, it must be a tough job to do if you can't even talk...
Only in the morg...
