I agree. Some of the largest personalities who post here get deleted more than other folks.

It comes with the territory and is nothing personal.

Dang maybe if you had only known for sure that some of the NATO guys were Mormon - and you threw that in - then it would have been okay. I am a news hound so I was into it.

About a week or so ago, you had made a comment in a thread, and I added one, too. When I checked back later, I noticed that both of our comments - and the posting that we had commented on - were all deleted, but the rest of the thread remained. I admit that I was surprised; I thought my comment was 'safe' if it was appended to yours. Well, it just goes to show that things are not always what we think...

However, I do think that your deleted posts are likely done with more reverence, and after seeking special discernment from on high...

or maybe not.

By the way, it is my understanding that indented comments (i.e,, those below a preceding post that are direct responses to that preceding post) get automatically deleted--regardless of content--if the preceding post is itself deleted. It is a matter of software engineering on this site. FYI, if those indented comments were not deleted, they would remain up as so-called "orphaned" posts, having no context.

(Also, I had this same conversation the other day with a handle-flipper--i.e., someone who keeps changing their RfM board name, in violation of stated Admin policy--and who stubbornly refused to accept that simple software engineering reality).

Sometimes I'll comment in response to a troll knowing full well that my comment will be eventually deleted along with the troll's.

I've had a few things deleted here and there. Goes with the territory. I never mind it. I was a board admin once, and I know it's a thankless job, so I am grateful to those who do it. I don't like to second-guess their decisions.

Admin probably isn't inclined to keep track of the numbers for those here who may be curious about such things, since once a post is deleted by Admin, the approach of the board Mods is to move on (not to mention advise posters here not to go back and respond to threads/posts that have been deleted).

And I know of no poster on this board who is providing us with running totals on how many posts of theirs have been deleted by Admin.

I replied to one post, then I came to check it and my comments were gone. I wondered if I had actually posted it and after a few minutes of pondering I was sure I did post it, so it must have been deleted. Why, I'll never know. I almost got offended and could have gone inactive, but I'm still here. =)
