http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m1UWSD-FaA (sorry!)

A place where nobody dared to go
The love that we came to know
They call it Xanadu
(It takes your breath and it'll leave you blind)

And now, open your eyes and see
What we have made is real
We are in Xanadu
(A dream of it,we offer you)

A million lights are dancing
And there you are, a shooting star
An everlasting world and you're here with me
Eternally

Xanadu--Xanadu (now we are here)
In Xanadu(Xanadu)
Xanadu--Xanadu (now we are here)
In Xanadu

etc...

Sorry... I just can't get this song out of my head and I just for the first time in like 25 years heard the 'eternally' lyric... and thought 'hmmm, Moism!?'

Ha! So I unleash it here on RfM to share/spread my pain! :-)

Since Coleridge popularized Xanadu as a paradise in his unfinished poem, written whilst in an opium haze, I'm sure TBMs everywhere would love your comparison. :D

LOL! Oh, I love it! :D Both my complete poetic ignorance and the opium haze utopia!

Seriously, I had no idea. And, for me, that makes it just that much more hilarious!

Thank you, bluetoes! :-)

Now off to google! ;-)

You're welcome, spaghetti oh! It's definitely worth Googling, IMO. Samuel Taylor Coleridge wrote about his opium trip and not being able to finish the poem because the drug wore off, if I recall correctly. It's kind of a cool story.

I think I had to memorize the first part of it back in high school for something. The poem starts out, "In Xanadu did Kubla Khan/ A stately pleasure-dome decree". Which brings up visions of some kind of debauched, infinitely-less-boring-than-Mo temple to me. :)

I am now picturing people in temple clothes on roller skates. Thanks a lot.

is that temple clothes tend to fall off when one is skating at high speed. Just something to think about. Olivia Newton John (1980); Poor fitting temple clothes and garments; Roller skates; flimsy temple clothes and garments breaking apart and falling off due to the intense G-forces....

I have no idea what I'm talking about and suddenly I'm hearing "Let's Get Physical" in my head.

;o)

That's a matter of opinion. Xanadu happens to be a guilty pleasure.
