Michael Ash's latest: (hold on to your hat, Cabbie)
A tribute to Sorenson.

"In order to approach the textual elements of geography as bias-free as possible, Sorenson spells out some necessary assumptions that undergird the research."

[bias free--a phrase that always alludes to Sorenson, yeah right.]

Another:
“All we can do is show that a certain map is plausible and consistent with everything in the Book of Mormon."

[consistent with everything? Well, the vernal holley map does that one better by being the actual basis for much of the fictional geography]

The fact that apologists do their thing shows the claims do not hold up on their own.

“All we can do is show that a certain map is plausible and consistent with everything in the Book of Mormon. It may, however, be possible to disprove a map. If, for example, a map claimed that Zarahemla was on the east of the river Sidon, we would know from our internal map based on the Book of Mormon text that this cannot be true.”

So, if you can disprove a map because of the relative misplacement of a river and a city, then what about the relative misplacement of horses, wheat, etc? That's right, it disproves your proposal! Mr. Ash suffers from a form of PTSD that he acquired when his own faith was shaken. However, instead of dealing with his newfound understanding in a logical and healthy way, he regressed into a turbo-TBM-apologist. He got hung up in his stages of grief and is still stuck in denial. Now he receives publicity and praise for his efforts, so he's becoming entrenched in his disorder. So sad, but it provides good fodder for us to critique and ridicule! :)

We know where the Book of Mormon supposedly took place.

Every prophet of the Church has reiterated that the Hill Cumorah is in New York state and is the hill where the Gold plates were located by Joseph Smith.

Why are they still looking? Perhaps they know a little more about the Hill Cumorah site than they are letting on...
