MIL and SIL were all a-twitter about this...first time I haven't been specifically invited.

Anyone else up here in Idaho hear anything about this? I'm assuming it had to do with the new book.

There's a new book geared towards relief society sisters that just came out. In MIL's ward they passed it out today: http://mormonwoman.org/2011/08/28/daughters-in-my-kingdom-new-relief-society-book-for-lds-women/

Re-gifted.

Good news for Deseret Books publishing! All those color photographs up the value.

I hope the author (Tanner--a familiar name in Mormondumb) held out for a percentage, but probably TSCC had her write the book free, as part of her calling.

I'm dying to know how much it costs. I doubt TSCC will give these away. I love the dumbed-down reading-level, and lots of pictures, fer us simple wimmin folk.

The book is advertised to be spiritually uplifting, and for women to keep it handy to pick up when they need a boost in morale. Don't call a busy, overburdened Mormon "friend." Shut up, read this book, and pray. This will put depressed TBM women over the edge. Kill me now.

Desperate Mormon Housewife: "Hello, Sister Christensen? I'm going to kill myself!"

Sister Christensen: "Have you read Daughters in My Kingdom?"

This will be just as mundane as saying, "Have you read The Book of Mormon?

My mom said they passed these out last week in RS. She was making it out to be a big deal. I guess she had to change her lesson at the last minute since they got the books at the last minute. I don't ask questions because I don't want to hear unnecessary details regarding any of it.

I certainly got my copy free. I think everyone does but they will probably sell them at Deseret Book as well. I tried to read mine, just to tell you here on RfM the funny/horrifying details but it is just mind-numbing. I mean, mind-numbing. I can't imagine anyone reading it - it's like the worst history book you had back in fourth grade. It's supremely uninteresting and really, I can't even imagine a TBM taking any inspiration from this. It's more of an in-your-face, you-should-be-doing-better diatribe than anything else.

I would think any new material would be welcome. I keep wondering how long they will have to keep recycling those same "man"uals.

My DH brought me one home from church yesterday with a little speech saying bishop wanted me to have a copy cos the first presidency want all the sisters to have one. He seemed quite nervous with a "don't shoot me I'm only the messenger" look on his face!
I just rolled my eyes & asked if it came with a sick bucket.

I've made my feelings perfectly clear that I am NOT a member anymore & do not wish to be considered so in any way, & the only reason I haven't officially resigned is out of respect for DH but have warned him I will if I'm not left alone.

This book is about the history of Relief Society.

Does it explain how many members of the First Relief Society were Joseph's wives?

Since the More Good Foundation and the ideology it promotes "do not necessarily represent the position of the More Good Foundation" or even the LDS church, why are they even promoting it? It doesn't make sense. (See Copyright info***)

It's the same as apologetic websites stating that their views "should not be interpreted as official statements of LDS doctrine, belief, or practice". (See Website Disclaimer###)

There's a separate world within the LDS church that advocates ideas and principles that may or may not be based on official doctrines and beliefs. This ample supply of information adds to the confusion and inconsistency of teachings and divides the membership. When will the leadership of the church state officially what is dogma and what is not? I guess the leadership needs a fall guy or gal when the topics at hand are not "faith promoting" or "in line with current teachings..."

Well, whoever produced the LDS.org website also produced the More Good Foundations website. The style is unmistakable.
