BYU football and the 12

I have read in several places there is an elderly General Authority who wants to see BYU drop football and doesn't want it to go to a power conference like the Big 12. Apparently, this GA is upset because he has ties to Utah State and feels Utah State is being screwed in this entire process. He doesn't think big-time football (or college athletics) belongs at an LDS school. The rest of the 12 don't agree with him, but he has seniority. Anyone heard anything about this?

I've seen this

but Boyd also attended Weber and also received his Ed.D. from BYU. So I can't believe he's just jackin' for USU.

So it's Packer? Seems like the rest of the 12 can just wait for him to pass along and ignore him at this point. Wonder what Monson thinks? BYU better move fast if they want to get into the Big 12 before Packer has total power.
