The flip side of married in the temple for eternity

Mexico is considering temporary marriages - 2 year minimum commitment. I actually knew of some kids at BYU who did this but they called it "Going to Wendover for the Weekend". Same principle applies - guilt free sex with an open door policy.

Marriage is a culturally strengthened convention

Some people just can't live with each other unless they are "made" to do so.

I talked to a middle eastern gentleman who said this was the custom

in several countries where he had lived. He said a man could buy various "marriage licenses" which were in effect for as little as one evening, to a few weeks or months, a lifetime, or whatever time span suited the man's needs.
