What I want from the church is a single letter of confirmation that you have received this letter of resignation and complied with it.

That's all the law expects: Once they get the letter, that's it. I sure as heck wasn't going to end it with a "Thank you," as I considered all the crap I've gone through on account of that stupid, mind-effing church.

Love the addition of "in a manner that would appall JC". Leave that in.

Some folks seem to find it cathartic to spell out their reasons for leaving. I think Dodge gets so many letters that he doesn't even read them.

Mine was like yours, short and to the point.
