My dear brother lost his fight with cancer today. He was surrounded by those of us who loved him, and we were assured by the palliative care staff that he was not in pain. It was peaceful and I'm so glad that his long struggle is ended.

I feel lost and so so sad, but I have support from my spouse and kids, and that will help me to be supportive to my SIL and nieces.

Thanks so much to all of you who offered kind words and support in my previous post. It meant a lot to me.

No one truly gets over a death of a loved one, you just have to be strong and accept it, and find a way of coping because after all life goes on no matter what you do. Make the most of your time on earth seeking out the right answers of life and the purpose of life.
Its ironic how death is the inevitable end yet we somehow just cant seem to see past it.

It is so hard to lose someone who shared so much of your history. When my mom died I kept remembering that I could no longer ask her things. Things that only she would know. Very sorry for your loss.

I'm glad those of you who loved him were able to be with him.

Grief is not an easy journey.

May you feel comfort in your memories as they arise in the midst of your pain.

Having lost a sister when she was quite young- 27 -I know your pain. The world keeps spinning and you think "HEY, what is going on? My sister just died?" I was a mess for a couple wks. Then I remember thinking that she would want me to be strong for my parents. So I did that. If you have parents as well as the spouse you spoke of you can be of such help once you get ahold of yourself emotionally. Keep those memories alive by talking about them and looking at pics. Sorry for your loss.

It is hard to say the words that comfort

it harder to comfort those that know the pain I don't

So my contribution can only be that I hope his life will live on in your love

I am so sorry for your loss. You and your brother must have had a special relationship.
I lost a brother when he was 19 and had been on his mission only a few months.I was 15 then. I lost a sister when she was 40 and I was 38. Very hard times.
This board will give you much support.
