I'm sitting at home recovering from a serious injury. Already had my surgery. While I have a reasonable expectation of having a full recovery (I hope!) it's going to be a long, hard, painful road.

I would very much appreciate any prayers, healing thoughts, good vibes etc. you can wing my way.

Thank-you, friends. :-)

Summer, I'm not a crunchy-granola herbalist, but following a serious car accident I found a homeopathic remedy called "Rescue Remedy." It's made in Switzerland. It's so safe that I gave it to my dog who was traumatized. I took about 10 drops under tongue daily, put the same amount in a shallow dish with a bit of water and the dog lapped it up. We both felt calmer, I think.

I'm sorry you've been through a trauma and wish you quick healing. Any questions (medicinal) I'm here for you.

Wow! Thanks, Pharmacist! You just answered something for me! (Sorry about the hijack, Summer) Our parrot is plucking due to being nervous about the man next door who smokes. Rescue remedy just might do the trick...

I have 2 Amazons that are Rescues. I swear by a product called AVI-CALM. I also make sure that my birds get a healthy diet with fruits and veggies. Whole- real foods. Email me and I can hook you up with lots of ideas to help with plucking.

As for you Summer- I am happy to send positive prayer and lots of good thoughts your way. Wishing you speedy healing.

So you put some water that comes in a small labeled bottle (i.e homeopathic medication) in a water bowl? That will make any dog feel better. :)

You've really brightened my day. To those who inquired -- let's just say some seriously smashed bones are involved. My orthopaedist didn't even bother to count the fractures. From now on, I'm going to be one of those people who set off the metal detecter alarms as I move through an airport, lol.

The good news (such as it is,) is that it was a work-related injury, so my paycheck is 100% covered, as are many/most of my medical bills. I take comfort in that. I chose a top-notch surgeon, so I may have additional bills on top of what my Workman's Comp and health insurance will cover. That makes me a bit nervous, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. My out of work time may be 2-3 months total.

I spent the first two weeks at a family member's nearby home. I'm back at my own home now, but I get a daily visit to help me with changing my bandages. I'm also being driven to doctors' appointments, but I'm hoping to be driving myself before too long.

Doctor's orders are to spend most of my time resting, so I'm doing my best to comply, ha ha. But the truth is that I'm very tuckered out, so my day goes by in a cycle of small activity/rest, small activity/rest, etc. Just propelling myself around is exhausting.

Work related has both benefit and pain attached.

I fell once at work. Fortunately, I didn't break anything. Two different kiddies tripped me and I got scraped knees and one other time I was bitten on the heel by a dolly full of boxes when I was changing classrooms. All of this put together is nothing compared to what you're suffering and I'm so sorry.

Good for you that you found an excellent surgeon and are willing to shoulder the extra bills if necessary. I promise this will be well worth the commitment.

Be kind to yourself and do what you need to do to keep up your spirits. I like good movies and listening to books on tape. Music, treats, and small luxuries also help. And please follow doctors' orders if he/she says it will produce better longterm results or speed healing.

The interesting thing is that no outsider truly understands just what an active job teaching is. We are constantly on our feet, teaching and moving desks, chairs, furniture, files, books, boxes, carts, etc. My feeling is that we are as active as many nurses.

Thanks for your suggestions! I'm getting back into novel reading. It's a pleasant diversion, and I can turn to my novel if I'm restless at night.
