Most of you are probably already aware of this study but I am including a link to the download:

It is fantastic to note that no matter how you are raised, you are going to have the same progression of sexual activity, the biggest difference if you have guilt when you do it. Also, Mormons are the best of all denominations at making you feel guilty about sex.

Fantastic read. Lots of good graphs.

Another interesting find is that the more strict the upbringing, the more likely it is that pornography is used, and used to learn about sex.

That explains A LOT about mormon leaders obsession with porn. Their parents never explained how important sex is to a loving relationship. (This post was inspired by the porn conference post, I did not want to hijack.)

Nothing unexpected in those findings. TBMs would go nuts and try all kinds of arguments against you for claiming that their teachings do nothing to hinder sex, and in fact make it less-safe and more miserable. But anyone with eyes can see that more mormon couples get pregnant before marriage engagement than non-mormon ones.

But they wouldn't lower teen pregnancy or improve relationships by even appearing to condone pre-marital sex, never! That would really make them look bad.

I'm skeptical of this study. It doesn't sound very scientific, and the bar chart doesn't match up w/ some of the things the article is saying.
Besides, I'm fairly certain that if I had an affair now that I've left the church, I'd feel just as guilty about it now as I would prior to leaving the church. Being married would be the source of that guilt, not my religion.

If were more likely to have an affair, your guilt would increase if it is not offset by the removal of eternal consequences. If you were equally likely to have an affair, your guilt would decrease due to removal of eternal consequences. If you were less likely to have an affair, your guilt would decrease a lot due to combined not having an affair and removal of eternal consequences.

If this article is correct, and that general likelihood of an affair (sexual behavior) does not change as a group with leaving religion, then at least two of these three groups I mentioned would experience a decrease in guilt. Unless of course you only ever cared about what your spouse thought, and not what God thought, but in that case you probably wouldn't have had a major religious change at all.
