Today my school had its 'faith day.' Its a taxpayer funded Catholic school. The priest who was the first chaplain of the school years ago said said something that all churchgoers would 'prophet' from hearing.

He said, "If you are giving more to church than you are getting back, something is wrong."

Where do you live that taxpayers fund a religious school?

Ontario Canada has funded Catholic schools as part of Confederation. Catholics were a minority in mainly English speaking Ontario and Protestants were a minority in mostly French speaking Quebec. In order for Protestants to get English speaking schools in Quebec as a minority, they had to promise Catholics in Ontario the same rights.
Its an anomaly - but it reflects the duality (at that time) of Canada and its need to protect both cultures.

The United Kingdom also has taxpayer-funded Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim schools--as well as taxpayer-funded nondenominational schools. There are also private schools affiliated with the aforementioned religions.

Matt, my remaining sentence is less than two years. When I retire I will speak out in favour of secular schools, but I cannot do it publicly now.
