Was Huyrum Smith in on the scam with his brother Joe?

The evidence seems strong that Sydney Rigdon and Oliver Cowdery were in on the scam. What about Hyrum? He was right there drinking wine with brother Joseph before they got killed. They were close, but were they close enough for Joe to have told him that it was all a farce? Who knows a good non-faith promoting book about Hyrum, that a former believing mormon would find intresting?
