I was thinking the other day. Some Mid-eastern and Eastern countries with tons of oil use that money to ease the burden of their citizens.
OK, a big part of it also goes to elites in their palaces, but in countries such as Brunei, a lot of the money is used to benefit the population as a whole. (Healthcare, housing etc.)
There are countries, such as Qatar, Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, where there is no income tax at all, since the country makes so much money with oil.
The other extreme is the Morg. LDS companies have such fabulous profits that they can afford to use this surplus to build multi-billion-dollar malls... Why don't they use these fortunes to ease the burden of their members??
Instead of using these never-ending profits to ease the burden of members, they choose to splurge in malls and condos, and they still have the nerve to keep asking for more and more:
* tithing
* fast offerings
* Book of Mormon funds
* missionary funds
* humanitarian funds
* temple funds
* even the newly-invented funds to help people get to the temple
(Not to mention missionary slave labor, member slave labor in callings etc etc etc.)
Disgusting.
