NEW YORK -- When a group of national political reporters arrived at Mitt Romney's New Hampshire summer house in July 2010 for an off-the-record barbecue, the former Massachusetts governor greeted them warmly and handed out beers from a nearby cooler.

most ag commodites are just THAT: commodities.

a farmer (morbot or not) doesn't have THE SLIGHTEST idea on whose table ANY of his/her products are going to end up on, OR who's going to touch them in the meantime! The instruments that commodities are shipped on (Bills of Lading) are Negotiable Instruments; they're sometimes traded (multiple times) between harvest & consumption. Grains, soybeans, potatoes, corn... they're traded in markets, that's why grading is so important.
(IDK if hops are grown in Idaho, they MIGHT be an exception)

That's incorrect in some cases. Some companies (Coors for example - barley) contract directly with the farmer.

"...a farmer (morbot or not) doesn't have THE SLIGHTEST idea on whose table ANY of his/her products are going to end up on,,,"

Um, they have some idea:

If you live in Idaho and grow Barley, it is a sure bet that a good share of your crop will be used for beer.

It is wrong that hearing the story about Romney has actually increased my admiration for him?

Without getting into forbidden discussions on politics, let it be known that not everybody on this board is a left liberal, and I actually think he'd make a pretty decent POTUS.

For those of us of the female persuasion, not so much. ;-)

I actually HEARD that speech he gave. Not a good sign for anyone who is "unchurched".

Beer is not against the WOW if you read it carefully. Only some meat loving junkies voted to include beer. Liquor for washing our bodies??? I think I need to clean-out by digestive track this weekend.

and Mitt's connection to it. The beer thing might raise more eyebrows in Utah, though, because Utah seems to be very comfortable with swindlers.
