I think one's religion is up for discussion if one is running for political office. It's not some sacrosanct subject; it's a philosophy, like any other club one belongs to. If a candidate is a member of the KKK, is that to be left off the table out of respect for one's personal philosophy? If someone belongs to NAMBLA, is that to be respected as a personal choice, not pertaining to the role of the president?

I don't think so.
