It depends on who "wins." History is written by the winners. Right now, the church is invested in an aggressive campaign to change the public mindset with their money and help Romney win the election. If they are successful, Mormonism will someday be seen as an acceptable religion that is quintessentially American.

If they lose their publicity battle (the goal of Occupy the Net!), then history will judge them as lying plutocrats who used money to gain political power and increase their control of their people. Harold Bloom, a Yale history professor, already judges them poorly in a recent New York Times article here.

YES! The events of the Book of Mormon MIGHT have been plausible in 1830 but by now, year 2011 are provably, factually FALSE.
