Here we are on earth living happily, until someone, enter Satan, comes along and tells us “we’re sinning”, “God is not happy with us”, “we’re not obeying the rules or living up to Gods expectations” (which we previously knew nothing about) and our eternal salvation is in jeopardy UNLESS we allow Gods’ self proclaimed representatives into our lives.

They will teach us about God, they will tell us the rules, they will police our behavior and we will answer to them. We will contract with them for our Eternal salvation.

Contracts, lies, and conformity are Satan’s way of enslaving us, God never intended this for us.

All the while God never really had a problem with us, he knows we’re human and just wants us to have this experience and will not judge us for it.

Whilst I am no more inclined to believe in the mythical creation called "Satan" than I am "God", I certainly accept that the Mormon church accompishes the plan that mainstream Christianity attributes to "Satan".

Mind you, I believe the same could be said for socialism, which many liberals on this board subscribe to...

it's their mythology, and by their own teachings they prove themselves to be living according to what they teach is Satan's plan to lie, deceive and trick people into giving up their freedom.

If there is a God, I'm certain he is not to be found in LDS Inc.

According to their own beliefs, Mormons think Satan's plan is to force people to be good.

Using fear, threats, shunning, guilt, unquestioning obedience as methods to control your church - those are all different levels of forcing people to be good. Those are the same tactics used by dictators throughout history to force their followers to do the will of the leader. No questioning, no freedom, no choices. Just choose to obey or choose to die.

It seems to me that "Satan" is a metaphor for PEOPLE who use the tactics of fear, threats, shunning, guilt, unquestioning obedience, etc. to manipulate or control other people. In that sense, LDS Inc. is, indeed, Satan.

He said God was a jerk for trying to keep us as ignorant as the other animals, for setting us up to fail because of contradicting rules. The conflict between God and Satan is that Satan exposed God for the dick that he is. Our "sin" is not falling for God's sick horse shit.

"WTF, God," Satan says, "You create imperfect humans and the blame them for being imperfect? That's sick."

They don't want me back - thanks for that interesting perspective! I had never considered that angle before. Definitely something I want to mull over for a while.

Even when I was in the depths of delusion I always thought (secretly) that Gods plan was a catastrophic failure. The amount of people that will be sent to hell far outnumber those going upstairs if you take christianity at face value.

CA girl - wow, great point. I hadn't made that correlation yet.
