It was 14 years old and tasted like heaven on my tongue.

A sort of darkly mysterious, fruity taste, delicious with desert, or with Stilton Cheese. Or by itself.

Actually, this post is NOT off topic, as I just realised that had I been a Mormon I'd never have experienced this gorgeous drink. Or the bottle of Blue Nun sparkling white wine, with genuine golf leaf in it!

I was exposed to GOOD port and Stilton while living in London. I had no clue. Miss the Stilton but know what port to buy in the States now. A good blue cheese suffices. Still can't get decent scones and clotted cream though. The fruity flavored scones are yuk to me.

The port is thoroughly recommended, A good blue cheese is notoriiously difficult to get in the USA I am told.

Most Brits would regard the Blue Nun as a cheapie, a wine of last resort if it's the last bottle left on the shelves lol.

But a matured port can be heavenly.

on Cinqo de Mayo...
...sorry, I'm considered riff raff most places I go
goes good with buffalo wings.
And I chased it with Corona with salt all over the mouth of the bottle

(hiccup)

Seriously, it was a moving experience. I was texting algebra answers to my Jr HS child...he got through an hour of homework in half the time...
...then the last text was from DW..."are you drunk?" Reply, "how could I do algebra if I was drunk?".

Oh, yes. We did. We tested a bottle of Taylor's Late Vintage Port this evening. Accidentally drunk it all, however. Oh, well! Of to the BBC Good Food Show to test lots and lots of cheese, food and booze. Yep. It's Gooood being an exmo! ;o))

I LOVE Port!!!

But my jaw nearly dropped to the floor the other week when I got charged £10 for a SINGLE MEASURE the other night at a 5* London hotel bar! WTF!!! I could have bought the whole feckin' bottle at Tesco for that!

Hope you enjoyed yours as much as I would have :)

EDIT: I should add it was a Marriot lol so £1 of that will likely go to build shopping malls in Utah...

Try Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese in Fleet Street, Freeman. MUCH cheaper.

Now I know why the Brits like it so much. It was great.
