So Great Grandpa died and leaves mom $100,000

GGrandpas already tithed -$10,000
Grandpa leaves Mom the balance $100,000
Mom pays tithing -$10,000
Mom gifts $90,000 to only daughter
Daughter pays $9000 tithe -$9000
daughter give $81000 to married 4 kids
4 Married kids pay tithe $ 2020 each and give -$8080
great grandkids more $$$ to tithe on -$????

so $37080 + paid to the TSCC on gramps gift that he already paid tithing on the Gross.

I wish this wasn't a true scenario but it is.All are TBM's
Pretty Slick con if you ask me. The TSCC must have more money than God.
I would imagine this scenario is repeated more often than not
in the Morg.

They are laughing all the way to the bank.

Disgusting.

But I do think they are hurting for money. Hurting in that the cash in hand has declined, they still own more property and businesses than god, but they don't want to cash that in.

They don't want to take a cut in pay and have to take money out of their investments so they are putting the pressure on the sheeple to cough it up. And the sheeple will do what they are told.

What a con job.

The only good side of exponential decay is that, unlike exponential growth, which starts slow, but eventually goes like a bat outta hell, exponential decay starts fast, and slows down over time.

Cold comfort, I know.

We should start a campaign targeted at TBMs to pay tithing like sales tax. That $100,000 is not an increase if you give $90,000 away!

Increase should be defined as what you have left at the end of each year after your expenditure has been deducted.

Yes, you are correct in your math and your thinking!

Your chances of educating a TBM on "paying on increase" is limited. TBMs do not think because--"When the Prophet has spoken, the thinking is done" mindset is incapable of anything but "follow and obey".

I have watched my mother pay hundreds each month (she is soon to be 89) in tithes. If I tried to reason that she should subtract that part of her monthly "revenue" which is partly money she invested that had already been tithed on in the past, she would not understand it. So why create tension between mother and me over money?

And fragging child support - my ex tithes on what I pay her, and the law won't touch it - it's her religious right. But they're fine taxing me on that child support without "tithing" deductions.

I'm betting tbm fathers who pay support to tbm ex wives are double tithing.

No, no, no!

Here's how it goes:

Grandpa dies and leaves Mom $100,000.

Mom's sister and brothers sue claiming Grandpa was nuts.

The will is contested and results in a 4-year-long court battle.

The court finally rules that, yes, the $100,000 goes to Mom.

Legal fees to Mom are $99,900 so net to her is $10.

Mom tithes $1.

For this very reason I never tithed on gift money of any kind when I was a TBM. Some disagreed with me, but never had any response when I gave them that reasoning.

I just got in a huge fight with my TBM spouse about this... he received some money for his birthday and paid tithing on it. I told him that he didn't have to pay 1/10th of the actual physical presents that he received (ie - he wasn't cutting out a 10% chunk of that new iPod) so just treat the gift money the same way. He told me I was "wrong"!!!

Ya think if I cut off his head, God would want 10% of it?

You don't inherit a thing, because Great Grandpa left it all to the church. 100%.

Business owner (dentist/bishop) makes $1,000,000 gross/500,000 net - church gets 50,000
Of the 500,000 business expenses, 6 employees get $50,000 =300,000 - church gets $30,000
(With taxes and tithing, the business owner only has $200,000 left)
Employees give kids allowance - 6 employees x 3 kids x $20 x 12 mos. = $7200 - church gets $720 in tithing.
Employees spend remaining 45,000 on living expenses because they have nothing left to save due to paying tithing = 270,000.

So far the church got $80,720 of the original business owners netincome. Now the other mormon owned businesses will collect on the left overs, then pay tithing on that. And the cyle continues until the church gets essentially 100% of all money moving around in Utah.

Based on 80,720/500,000 = 16%

$270,000 x 16% = $43,200
$43,200 x 16% = $6,912
$6,912 x 16% = $1,105
$1,105 x 16% = $177
$177 x 16% = $28

So now of that original the original business owner's $1,000,000 success, the church made $132,142 tax free without lifting a finger, and the business owner sacrficed and worked hard to end up made $20,000, after taxes and tithing, to support his family (and habits and golf game/habits).

OK - that was laborious...but I always wanted to see what happens to $1,000,000 in Utah.
