The article doesnt say he's mormon, but he was in my stake. It's old news but I just recently found out about it.

I wonder what the "favour" was?

Idiot. It's always the religious guys getting into trouble about this, because they never learned the proper way to do it. If you stop an attractive female, and you really like her, you either give her a warning, no strings attached, or you write the ticket, with no promises to fix it. Then you hope to run into her again in the future, when not working. Hope is the key, since you do not arrange to happen to just bump into her, that is unethical.

Say you see her again at the grocery store, you then say something like, "I remember you, you drove a little red car. I don't remember what I pulled you over, but you seemed nice so I let you off, (or you seemed nice, so I felt bad about giving you a ticket)." In the first scenario, you ask her if she has time for a cop of coffee, again you are off duty, and the dead is already done, so this is separate from your actions as a cop. In the second scenario, you say, "I felt bad about the ticket, let me buy you a cup of coffee to make it up to you."

Guess what, it actually works better if you gave her the ticket, even after you explain up front that there is no way you can fix the ticket.

Any cop who does what you suggest deserves a kick in the @$$ and disciplinary action. My daughter and her female friends have reported far too many cases of being pulled over for "driving while cute." What gives an officer of the law the right to abuse his role by pulling over an attractive female to try to pick her up? It's downright scary: Someone in a position of authority makes you stop your car, and you're afraid you're in trouble for doing something wrong. Then Officer Hunk-Wannabe flashes you a big smile and it's all supposed to be all right--in fact, you're supposed to be flattered by the attention? Bull$#!+.

I had a "driving while cute" problem in TX. I was pulled over by two cops in a police car whom came up behind me directly from the rear.

One of them claimed that my safety sticker was out of date which is why I was, supposedly, pulled over. The safety sticker was on the front of the car and was not visible from the rear.

I told my DH what had transpired. He replied for me to get their badge numbers should it happen again. It didn't.
