As I understand it, in LDS circles Jehovah is Jesus in the Old Testament.
There is one little problem with that: Jehovah really isn't a word. It has no Hebraic connections.
Jehovah is a bastardization from the German of the Hebrew tetragrammaton YHWH, the unpronounceable and never said designation for God. Jews substituted Adonai which means Lord in place of YHWH. In modern translations of the Old Testament, YHWH is rendered Lord with the letters "ord" in small caps.
Nowhere is Jehovah found in the Old Testament.
How does the Mormon church work around that? It has to be assumed that Biblical scholars know what they are talking about.
