would it be like Islam in some countries? Could you even leave? Would there be any freedom?

Like one church for the entire country? Of course there wouldn't be freedom if that were the case.

Imagine if TSCC was the only church in the U.S. I for one would be looking for a one way ticket anywhere. I don't want to live in a world without coffee

Edict for everyone:

long underwear
no alcohol
no coffee no tea
women in ankle length dresses
men all look like clones
all church all the time
church approved music, art, reading
sex....can't even imagine
no vacation unless you go to the temple while that time.
Church made movies
family time=cleaning church
Wheat, honey, dried milk diet.
And I'm sure there's more. Sounds like hell to me.

I think that pretty much answers the question.

Don't forget polygamy.

It would be a nation of FLDS - and IMO if that was the case the US wouldn't be where it is now as that kind of rigid thinking doesn't lead to economic prosperity or intellectual advancement.

Mormonism is Islam for the English-speaking world.

If it were the only church, then the suicide rate for gays would climb precipitously, among other things.

for women too. The problem being, these type of setups usually come around to justifying killing people who don't follow the leader to the letter. they use it to instill fear in others. Kind of like Moism uses public humiliation and excommunication to control the rest of the people.

I could live with that.

I think it would be a kind of hell on earth. Makes me think of Utah without anything counter-culture at all in it.

I'd probbly be a lat wife somewhere. There would be no real love as men would see thair women only to get in bed and do the wild thing. There would be a lerge number of males infact i'm guessing they would hack off mens genetalia often in order to make sure extra men in the communities would be able to work and not steal thair wives and unchecked women would probably end up haveing sergery so they didnt feel anything good about sex ether. Any destraction from scriptures would be wiped out and all women would wear dresses to indicate what family they came from. The only thing partialy keeping back inbreeding. There would be no such thing as job security as everyone would be called by someone else to do jobs and training wouold be basic school then lern on the job then be perepared to have jobs changed alot. Secrecy would be a big thing and so much abuse could be hidden that it would be hell for almost eveyrone. And lastly the prophet would be seen like a dear leader type.
