I was reading an article a few day ago and it said that god being a man contradicts with the scriptures because in the scriptures it says that god never changes. Where in the scriptures does it talk about this? Also, has there ever been a church leader that said god never changes?

Moroni 8:18 --

"For I know that God is not a partial God, neither a changeable being;
but he is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity."


D&C 20:12 --

"Thereby showing that he is the same God yesterday, today, and forever. Amen."

Of course these were both early in Joseph Smith's career. In the famous
"King Follett" sermon he seemed to specifically refute Moroni 8:18 --

"We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity.
I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see."

Regarding D&C 20:12. God is replaced with Jesus here in verse 8:

Hebrews 13:6-9
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.
