My SIL has an ex that was/is a pedophile, and has been excommunicated. She has been civilly divorced, but now she is engaged to someone else. However, she is sealed to the ex-husband.

1. Does the excommunication break the sealing?

2. If it does not, does he have to agree to break the sealing (i.e., will her request for a cancellation be denied if he doesn't agree)?

3. Is there any recourse if he decided not to comply with the cancellation request?

Across the internet, there is little information on this, and the lack of continuity across the Church is annoying, and very telling. In any case, she is freaking out about it, and I am wondering if anyone on here has any inside knowledge about it.
