Just wondering ... how did Nephi get away with killing Laban and then returning to Jerusalem (the scene of the crime) to link up with the ladies (i.e., get a wife)?

No, but seriously, this is the kind of plot hole that the BoM is rife with.

"Could an uneducated farm boy have written the BoM?" Yes. Yes, he could've. It's poorly written, so yeah, without doubt.
