With the recent intense scrutiny the church is facing, and the reports of rapid rates of recividism back to reality, we're all wondering about the future of the morg. Has anyone ever floated the theory that the morg might just phase out its religious side completely, or at least just quit pretending to be the divinely led one and only true church -- maybe instead just morphing into a Christian club like the Elks? Think of how much easier the leaders of the morgs lives would be if they could just drop the whole religious pretense to just be what they are, a business. Considering the current wealth of the morg, it seems like they might be relieved if the entire membership of the church just abandoned ship all at once. Sure the bottom line would take a hit from losing all the tithing, but to then be able to pawn off all the infrastructire gets you something back, and you'd never have to waste $ on humanity again!

So who would own all the loot if the church suddenly disincorporated itself as a religion and incorporated itself as a business? I'm sure the apostles would just become CEOs and shareholders, a mere change in title, if not function. I'm curious as to what the legal ramifications of such a move would be, and if ex-members would have a legitimate claim of recompension from a church they willingly donated their money to.

Anyway, one can dream of such a scenario -- the entire membership left with nothing but the decision of who gets to clean the abandoned chapels, lol.

If the Big 15 ever do come forward and admit it is all a game, then most likely the church will become just another protestant religion.

While I can eventually see that happening, I do not see it happening soon. As a rule, the Big 15 are of a generation that is highly resistant to change. Fifty years from now, the culture may have changed enough that they will be able to admit the church's mistakes.

Remember, despite the mountains of evidence that the world is millions of years old, most religious conservatives of most religions still hold to the idea that it is only a few thousand years old. If they can all keep their heads in the sand about that, how much of a bigger step is it to keep your head in the sand for BoM flaws.
