Like many other ex-mos, I've become convinced that the primary purpose of the full time missionary program is to be a rite of passage that commits men for life to TSCC. However, if that's the main purpose, then why do mission leaders care so much about baptisms and other statistics? Instead of berating missionaries about numbers, wouldn't missionaries look more fondly on their missions (and be less likely to fall away afterwards) if they didn't have to worry about getting baptisms?

The MP's are on a power trip. Ego's run amok.

Some of them are also trying to climb the corporate ladder.

I would be curious to know if any of you had Grant Fausett (sp?) as an Mp, and what you thought about him.

TSCC is a corporation. Corporations thrive on numbers and data. I think there is a petty game of egos at the higher echelons of the church (as mentioned by Mia). They want to prove to each other who has the best management skills. MPs are stammering over each other trying to join the GA club. GAs get some good corporate perks.

TSCC still wants suckers to join. It is a roaming MLM scam on steroids. They know that thousands are leaving at the same time thousands are being baptized. They are trying to squeeze as much cash as they can out of the new members before they fall away.
