http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Founder_effect
"In population genetics, the founder effect is the loss of genetic variation that occurs when a new population is established by a very small number of individuals from a larger population. It was first fully outlined by Ernst Mayr in 1942,[1] using existing theoretical work by those such as Sewall Wright.[2] As a result of the loss of genetic variation, the new population may be distinctively different, both genetically and phenotypically, from the parent population from which it is derived. In extreme cases, the founder effect is thought to lead to the speciation and subsequent evolution of new species."

The BoM said they were lead to a land that had been hidden from other people. The Jaredites killed themselves off. Even if you count the Mulekites, they would have added to the Semetic DNA in Native American populations.

Yes, for the most part, you're right. Founder events should stick out. If a founder survives, genetically, then the semi-immutable Y-DNA or mtDNA haplotypes should be very clearly different than the surrounding population. Since the Mos allege Lehi, Mulek etal., did survive for nearly a thousand years, and since they allege their seed would survive (1 Ne 13:30-31 *) to modern times, the DNA evidence should be there in abundance.

One of the most lauded mormon geneticists has shown evidence that founder effects are very prominent when studied even from 10s of thousands of years ago. In his haplotypic study, Ugo Perego (Mormon Scientist Extraordinaire) says that there is a
"novel X2 branch...named X2g, and its presence in Native Americans most probably indicates an additional and very rare Native American founder..."

( See http://www.genetree.com/documents/achilli_perego_distinctive_perego_et_al_paleo_indian_migrations_2009_current_biology.pdf If the linked doesn't work, just ask and I will email the full paper PDF to you.)

The haplogroup X2g, as I understand, is theorized to have entered the lineage through this rare individual founder much more than 10,000 years ago.

Such that if 10+kya the X2g can be found today, I'm sure there's a detectable haplotype from the Semetic/Davidic line that can be seen from entry into a population 2,600 ya via the Y-DNA of either Lehi (joseph/mannaseh) or Mulek (Judah).

The haplotypes of either lineage from Israel's 12 sons would have essentially matching types. Such would absolutely be a founder event in the sea of Altaian DNA of the Amerindians.

The problem Mos have isn't dilution and disappearance. The problem is their scriptures promise it wouldn't disappear in such a way that the apologists now argue.

* 1 Ne 13:30-31 ... the Lord God hath covenanted with thy father that his seed should have for the land of their inheritance; wherefore, thou seest that the Lord God will not suffer that the Gentiles will utterly destroy the mixture of thy seed, which are among thy brethren. Neither will he suffer that the Gentiles shall destroy the seed of thy brethren.
