During the Super Bowl yesterday they had several ads throughout with women dressed in lingerie. My TBM FIL would make a point to look away during these ads. Fine, to each his own. But here's what has my creep meter pegged...

Over the past week, I have noticed he goes out of his way to find my daughter's "Seventeen" magazines and thumb through them. I'm not making any accusations that he's a pedophile. He's a great grandfather. But still, the fact that he makes a point to look away from women when others are watching and then goes and looks at teenagers gives me the creeps.

Especially if he's invading your daughters privacy by obtaining those mags.

Leave out something else like "Sceptic" and maybe he'll learn something. :)

"Looks at Seventeen" == "pedophile" is right up there with "has a beer when he eats pizza" == "alcoholic". And I bet most of the models in 17 are not actually 17.

He probably used to check out Sears catalogs back in the day. Relax. He's probably sexually immature, certainly sexually repressed, and that magazine is all that's available.

Before the Superbowl even started my TBM nephew was "worried" about the Go Daddy commercials and having his children watch them. I offered a couple of suggestions: He could put TV on delay and fast forward through them. He could distract the kids. He could accept the fact that most likely seeing a Go Daddy commercial during the superbowl is not going to have a lasting affect on young children (all less than 10 years old) and just go with it.

He then proceeded to give me, his 50 something year old aunt, a mini lecture about the evils of porn (insert eye roll here).

Dude, lighten up already..

This is why I always have mini lectures prepared on the subject of the virtues of porn. There are not many, but they outnumber the evils.

Basically it goes like this. Con, too much porn can make you loose interest in your spouse.

Pros, watching porn with your spouse can lead to more interest in them. Porn promotes prostate health. It has been proven that as porn has become more common place, sexual assaults have become less common, not exactly the dystopian rape society dreamed up by our church leaders. Porn is a good way to learn new things you might enjoy trying, like specific acts or Asians. Porn models tend to promote good body image health, as besides for their breasts, the rest of their bodies tend to be more realistic then what you see on models and Hollywood starlets. Though on this last point, someone has told me it can make guys have unrealistic views of what their manhood should look like. This is of course ridiculous, as I have watched many hours, and have rarely noticed anyone who did not seem a little average. See porn is good.
