Here's what I'd say and ask around the turkey on Thursday:

Say you meet a 16 yr old fundamentalist mormon girl. She's betrothed to marry in six months a 62 year old member of the council of 12 in their compound of 150 persons who believe Thomas Monson is a heretic, like Gordon and all others down to Woodruf, for leaving the eternal principle of polygamy and trying to be popular in immoral, modern culture. She believes in the principle, has received a warm bosom about it, has a testimony of modern revelation through her compound prophet as the only man on earth with the keys to the kingdom. Their 150 souls are the only ones with authority and truth out of billions. And yet, she wants to hear your side, understand maybe even consider why LDS mainstream is the truth. Why is her church, her prophet, her priesthood the false one?

What would you tell her?

I'd like to hear what TBMs would say to her.

...that given the ratio of males to females in the wider world is roughly 50/50, how does she feel about the fact that under the fundamentalist system, most younger guys (including her own brothers) must leave the compound? Too bad, so sad?

She'd likely reply: God scattered Israel, sent Moses into the desert and John the baptist preached in the wilderness. Many are called, few are chosen. etc.

Also, to a TBM I'd reply, funny how you're worried about gender discrimination, but seem to fail to see the discrimination against women having authority in LDSinc, the lack of female characters in your most perfect book, and intolerance of single women.
