Being a very devout Mormon can (in some instances) be as destructive as getting plastered on a regular basis. This thought occurred to me while writing another post. Success in life depends on making wise, well-thought out decisions, and occasionally some luck. Leaving all of one's decisions to the leaders in TSCC is not one of those wise, well-thought out decisions. Followed blindly such a path can actually be VERY destructive. Marrying young before the education is complete and having several children right away can hinder or destroy opportunities for education and career advancement. The responsibilities of a family at such a young age combined with tithes and the demands of callings can slow or destroy progress in a career. The end result financially and professionally can be no different than drinking to excess.
"No other success can compensate for failure in the home" can be a smokescreen to cover the wreckage of bad financial and career planning. Ending up bankrupt, exhausted, with too many children, and trapped in a unsavory job are no less tragic.
As is the case in many things Mormon, TSCC can set people up for epic failures. The harping on the importance of obedience and sustaining the leaders is an invitation to destruction.
