Marlyn Jenson did he unleash statement reg. church because of his retirement

I think the statement was given because he knows the 12 is full of it and does not want to be part of the cover up.

I disagree. I think he believes that the church has nothing to hide.

I think he disagrees with the brethren, but is fiercely loyal to them and that loyalty trumps his personal opinions.

I had an interesting visit with him a couple years ago.

He was of the few higher up folks in the liberal faction of the LDS church.

People like John Dehlin and Joanna Brooks probably take great interest in what Jensen did. In fact his comments were discussed on a recent episode of Mormon Matters. The panelists, NOMish types generally, were all accepting of what Jenson said. One panelist disagreed with the secret recording of Jenson's remarks but said that there was nothing Jensen said that shouldn't or couldn't be said in public.
