I declare myself proxy for Joseph Smith. I want your hot wife.

Well, whether Zina Huntington was such a hot woman is actually a matter of some dispute, but here is what Brigham Young said to Zina's husband, Henry, as he was departing on his mission:

"Surprise! [ed.: I just threw that in there] "Brother Jacobs, the woman you claim for a wife does not belong to you. She is the spiritual wife of brother Joseph, sealed up to him. I am his proxy, and she, in this behalf, with her children, are my property. You can go where you please, and get another, but be sure to get one of your own kindred spirit."

Guys, don't you wish you could do that? You know... And get away with it?

Who could respect Huntington, anyway. She had already married Smith when she was 7 months pregnant with Henry's child, and then moved in and shacked up with Young, becoming his mistress or concubine until they got married.

Funny that she was from Watertown, NY--that's where my daughter lives now.
