I am uncomfortable with postings which are pure speculation meant to discredit a person's firsthand experience.

I don't mind speculative postings which actually elicit ideas and discussion to educate or promote recovery.

I am very uncomfortable with posts which are couched in terms ofa popular word these days, empathy, when they are aimed primarily at discounting longterm poster and known recovering exmo.

At such a distance, empathy is more difficult than understanding and sympathy. BTW, although probably not relevant in this case, but often those with difficulties with empathy, use that description on sympathy. For empathy, you probably would have to take in the person face to face, for sympathy the story/plot is enough if you're sensitive...
Not that one may not really need sympathy from time to time, when you're down or worn out by circumstances...

I think somebody (I don't know who-probably a wiseguy :) said once that sympathy should be coupled together with empathy.

But sympathy can be given freely, on such a forum, free from empathy... some other posters at least are sensitive and generous in giving...

I am very uncomfortable with your insinuation that my post was insincere. You have no idea where I was coming from. That would be speculation on your part.

I stated in my post that I respected Susie's right to tell her story and I meant it. I clarified it as first hand. There was no agenda. Many posters made some comments on topic which I really appreciated.

Many others drug the post back to where everyone was going on the other posts, dividing up support and going way off topic. I did not appreciate that at all.

I like the big picture Cheryl, that is all. I like both sides now that I am out of the church.

Maybe you should quit doing so, if you really agree. Just a suggestion! :-)

If you point out the person who forced you to read it, I'll tell him off for you. ;o))

That's true, Timothy! Piratin' with beer! Arghh! That be right!

She's on my shoulder, preening and whispering at this very moment.

She gave me a hell of a bite last night. I had worked from home yesterday, so when she came up into the study as usual yesterday evening she saw an empty cup on the desk, jumped to the conclusion that I had spent all day drinking tea without her, so she picked the mug up, threw it down, jumped onto my arm, ran down it and bit down really HARD on the knuckle of my left hand. Drawing blood, again.

After I stopped swearing, I did see the funny side...

Just look at the two sweet little Divas and their male bodyguard.

Of course, it was filmed before the mischief began.

Beautiful! Just beautiful!

This evening ours was 'helping' the cat. He was yowling as he was bringing up a furball and she was shouting encouragement in her best cat voice. Which is, to be fair, bloody good!

There's usually a song and dance number I put to it just in case someone is in the corner having a snack.

You know, like an Olympic event or something.

I might watch that.

Wouldn't throw 'em out of no restroom for eatin' crackers neither.

OMG I wish I had some primitive animation skills! I could have a lot of fun with many stories told here over the years.

How fun! It didn't play on my phone very long before crashing, and I'm at work. :(
Now I wish I had free time and my sketchpad. :D
