“Tell me why the stars do shine, Tell me why the ivy twines, Tell me what makes skies so blue, And I'll tell you why I love you.

Nuclear fusion makes stars to shine, Tropisms make the ivy twine, Raleigh scattering make skies so blue, Testicular hormones are why I love you."

Isaac Asimov
Writer

At my camp we sang "Boom Chicka Boom" and "Fried Ham" and "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt". No songs about love at all. I think my parents would have been upset if there had been love songs...

I was in camp in the early 80's. We were really focused on eternal marriage and this sweet old fashioned tune was a favorite. We also had a couple of slightly raunchy ones. Maybe acceptable since it was California.

Granny in the cellar
Lords can you smell her
Cooking biscuits on that dirty rotten stove
In her eye there is a matter
that keeps dripping in the batter
And she whistles while the (snort)
Goes down her nose

Behind the barn
down on my knees
I though I heard a chicken sneeze

From Polly Wolly Doodle

Read Issac Asimov's guide to the Old Testament and you'll see what an ignorant fraud Joseph Smith was.

It's an excellent reference. Coverage of every book in the Bible and the apocrypha with extensive literary, geographical, and linguistic references. Not easy going, but well worth it.
