Brother in law asked me to lead the family in prayer for Thanksgiving lunch. No one speaks Spanish so I decided to just recite the first vision instead, nobody knew the difference.

Wouldn't work for me--too many relatives went to South America on missions.

My family doesn't know my wife and I don't believe or I would of said no.

One time I just said "Father, We thank thee for the food, please bless it, in the name of Jesus Christ amen." My mother in law looked at me like I was a sinner.

I hate saying prayers.

Had my wife's family (damn near all of them) and MIL for Thanksgiving. All four sisters do not get together often. Four sisters with spouses even less often. I asked my MIL to give the blessing. She expressed gratitude for having her children (4 daughters) together, along with husbands. Then, big pause, really big pause, as she realized she had just excluded the spouse of one daughter (married in Vermont). Can you say uncomfortable? She did not know how to change anything at that point, so she just left it and moved on.
