Y Troop of the 2nd Apostate Air Cavalry Division had received orders from the RfM Central Command to conduct a reconnaissance mission over the city Zarahemla and the surrounding land of Zarahemla.

Y Troop lifted off from their base in very low over-cast conditions and proceeded in formation at a low-level, nap-of-the-earth altitude toward the city.

Almost immediately they encountered large formations of Lamanites troops.

The Lamanite forces were marching in division-sized columns toward Zarahemla with several Morg Danite battalions in reserve and providing logistical support.

The gunships of Y Troop were flying at such a low altitude that the apostate crew could see the Lamanite soldiers’ bright white teeth as they gaped in amazement at the magical flying war machines buzzing like angry bees above their head just beyond a javelin throw’s reach.

Y Troop was equally taken by surprise when all heck broke loose as the ground below lit up like a ugly Christmas tree with fire by Morg anti-apostate units from every quadrant.

The guns of Y Troops airships returned equally impressive suppression fire as they evaded to a safer area out over the East Sea.

Y Troop flew down the ancient coastline close to the walled or fortified section of the old city Zarahemla.

The Morg special forces had erected was a large statue of the angel Moroni on the hill top at the center of the city and the anti-apostate fire from the ground and from the rooftops was so intense that every airship in the apostate armada was taking multiple damage.

From Ziller’s vantage point in the gun turret, he could see Captain S. L. Cabbie’s console lit up with warning lights for various transmission, engine and cooling system problems and could only trust that the good Captain had taken them into account.

Still, it was not until much later, when Y Troop’s fuel and ammunition were almost depleted, that Captain S. L. Cabbie finally ordered his beleaguered troop of apostates to repair with him to the Imperial Space Marine base near the land of Bountiful.

Even Captain S. L. Cabbie’s gunship had been hit by Morg anti-apostate fire over one hundred times – this fact is known only because Apostate Ground Crew Maintenance Crew Chief R. Packham quit counting at that number.

Still, there would be no rest or refreshment for the apostate forces. They could leave the Morg well enough, but they could not leave it well enough alone.

Y Troop transferred to fresh gunships that had arrived in response to Captain S. L. Cabbie’s request for assistance and immediately headed back to the area of operations.

Again they flew over marching columns of tens of thousands of Lamanite and Morg forces.

Again they received continuous hostile fire from all quadrants.

Again they saw the big ugly golden statue of Moroni, still perched upon the hill overlooking the city Zarehemla, which was much more of a provocation than that lone Lamanite soldier who had given Y Troop the fickle flying finger a few days before.

That statue was symbolic of the Lamanite and Morg forces giving the finger to all past present and future apostates everywhere.

Upon seeing that statue for a second time that day, Captain S. L. Cabbie’s comment was similar to the slogan painted on the underside of all of Y Troop’s heliocopter gunships:

“F**K MORMONISM!”

The layers of symbolism in your stories fascinate me. The reference to actual Mormon propaganda-ture is great! Keep 'em coming Ziller.
