Depressing ... or Encouraging?

think what the Morg would have been / could be in the Future, IF: (past & present)

Instead of excuses and Smoke & Mirrors... The policy of the GAs was to face issues Head-On, deal with issues in a realistic, long-term view.

Open discussions up to the membership.

Fess up to past mistakes, Openly; compensate parties who've been harmed, taken advantage of; e.g. Mountain Meadows families, others.

I think... with the power hold that Morland / ChurchCo has mastered... what authority of Doing Right they would have...

well mostly good I think. To the clueless but curious Mormon it probably gets them interested into looking at what these guys are talking about. If they see some disturbing things, they may start to question. Unfortunately it will probably go right over the heads of your average Utah-Mo.
