Hey y'all.

Ive heard over and over again that what men are taught in the church is different from what women are taught in the church when it comes to the temple, and covenents, etc. What do they mean? Like do they tell the men they will have many wives and tell the woman that it will only be the two of them? I just want to know everything that is taught to men that they dont teach to women. Ready? GO!

one time only: When they marry. That is so he can call her name and take her into the celestial kingdom in the afterlife.

The wife doesn't ever learn her husband's new name, because she apparently doesn't need to know it.

But other than that, I don't think there are any big secrets kept from women in the church. There may be some things that leaders (mostly men) know about church procedures, but I assume there is nothing else.

But, of course, I'm a woman, so what do I know?

(BTW, my husband DID tell me his super secret name after we left the church, so HA!)

I don't see there being a huge divide in what is taught to each. The problem is that both are taught that women are subservient to men in mostly subtle ways.

The biggest difference is the youth programs. The boys get a lot more money spent on them than the girls - primarily for scouting. There are certainly also different messages to the girls vs boys in the youth programs - girls seem to get a whole lot of "guys only have one thing on their mind" where boys get more of "don't look at porn and masturbate".

You will mostly get a huge variety of what is taught and stressed between different wards. Different wards will take on different personalities teaching and stressing different things.

From my experience, most things are taught the same. It's just the whole atmosphere-- Men can give blessings; Priesthood meeting at GC that only priesthoood holders can attend i.e. men; Talking about how great prophepts ie men are since the invention of the whopper; men are more strongly encouraged than women to go on missions; Women are encouraged to stay home and take care of the kids while the man goes to work etc

Just my impression...

I just checked the wording of the sealing ceremony. There is no reference to the woman "obeying" the husband.

But what about the multiple wives thing? do they teach that to men? or is that a subtle teaching as well? Im scared to death to ask my TBM father and brother those things! I look up to them so much :(

I'm not sure what you are asking?

Both men and women are taught that there will be polygamy in the Celestial kingdom.
