Okay, I know we have been bagging on him and question his motive but rather than talking about if he is a bad or good person can we talk about what effect his influence had on the church for a minute?

He changed it from Mormonism against the world to a more cooperative approach with other religions. Result is a step down the path from the sectarian one true church dogma to a more liberal outlook.

Abandoned the peculiar people thing. He wanted us to be liked and acceptable. Changed the temple. When you want to be liked, you have to do self-introspection and change the things that are offensive. Good thing that. Baby steps on the path out of cultism.

He waffled in public interviews. Hoffman made him look human. He admitted his inspiration was "just like anyone else's". The result of that is the members start to realize that the church isn't "all that". God isn't leading the organization.

Thoughts?
