Hard to explain, but I'm trying to see what kinds of information the missionaries would need/use for someone to be baptized... Do they ask for any kind of identification, photo ID? Of course, a minor would need parental consent. What else, if anything?

too long ago for me;
Think of the extremes; a person may not have ID; any missionary 'in right mind' gonna Deny it? Ummmmmmmm Nope.

Mostly, the church would think in terms of ppl who've been ex'd, keeping them (us) 'Under Control'.

I don't know if they maintain a data base of "everyone's" Id, DOB; Doubtful.

(Correct) names & DOB are the primary indicators in law enforcement.

Do be sure, churchco wants the info, to use as they please (just like $). If a 'gator refuses... anyone's guess as to what the interviewing mish would say, how/what they would do.

When I was baptized in late 1989, I wasn't asked for any sort of ID. The elders asked for my name, dob, address, place of birth and my parents, spouse and childrens names. For my spouse they also asked his date of death.

They only want to prove your identiy for resignation.

So any criminal or pervert could join under a false name and the morg would only make them prove who they are as walk out the door.

No identification necessary. You just need to answer the questions in the way they want

In the 1970's they didn't. When I was a missionary there was a lady who was going around the country getting baptized under a variety of assumed names. She contacted missionaries, expressed her interest in learning about the church, conned them into buying her a bus ticket to where they were and then was taught and baptized. She was eventually caught and was sent back to her home.

Interestingly I saw her on a church missing person bulletin a few years later when I was on a high council. She was doing the same thing.

Jim Jones?

Jesus Smith?

Joseph Christ?

John Doyle Lee?

Adolf Hitler?

Elvis Presley?

John Dillinger?

Al Capone?

Bugsy Siegel?

Bugsy Malone?

(chances are, most mish's won't recognize ANY of those names!)

(just thinking what name I'll use should I desire to 'get wet'....
