Think about it. If the church allowed gay marriage, the whole patriarchy would fall apart and the church would lose control over their second class citizens(women). The man is considered the priesthood authority in the home. So what happens if you have 2 women in a marriage or two men? Who is the priesthood authority now? Its only a matter of time from there to having to give women the priesthood. Otherwise you have households where no one has the priesthood. The leaders of the church can't have women being all equal so they will fight gay marriage as long as they possibly can.

Two closeted marriages producing how many more tithe-paying members vs. one out marriage producing probably none.
