I know that this has probably been asked alot, but I need some advice on if, when, and how to tell Mormon friends that dh and I have left. We have a few good friends that I hope (not holding my breath) will stay friends once they find out, but should we be the one to tell then? I've only told my dad and stepmom, who are nevermo, and they are thrilled as well as my next door neighbor and really good friend (TBM), and she doesn't care and is still our friend.

I could really use some advice on this. Thanks so much.

I was not very entrenched when I resigned. The first people that I told right away were my TBM father and a former missionary companion. I told other friends (LDS) when it has felt right and comfortable. Some right away, others just recently and I resigned over 7 years ago!

I guess there is no time table really, it is all very individual. Good luck and congratulations!

Thanks for the help with this. It gives me something to go by.

It’s really a personal matter and is up to you.

You should feel no “pressure” to share or not to share. There is no hard fast rule.

You’re now in charge of your life and it’s your decision what information you share about your life and with who you share it with.
