Attacks against posters. People insisting that women like to be treated differently. People insisting that the gay people should be happy with their lot in life. I like diversity but some of the stuff that has been said has been below the belt.

What are you refering to? I must have missed something. I think it has been pretty light hearted lately.

I think a lot of it has to do with different approaches. A lot of us like to use sarcasm. Not everyone realizes when we are being sarcastic though.

Another case, I got into a back and forth recently, with a poster I normally respect, because I was trying to draw attention to the hypocrisy of a specific historical figure who was gay and persecuted gays, but the poster, thought I was trying to lump all gays together with the bad guy.

The problem with written communications, is that there is no way to reflect tone, or body language, which are an important part of human communication. In the absence of non-verbal communication, a lot of board members will supply their own. Interestingly, this often gives you an insight into the mind of a poster.

A jokester will often assume everyone else are being humorous. Someone who has spent their life feeling persecuted and put on by others, will often read things as an attack on themselves or their beliefs. The weird thing, is that in real life a lot of the harshest web enemies would probably find themselves friends, while a lot of web crushes would probably end in disappointment upon meeting in real life.

Well, I've run across a few puddles of blood today. That's for sure. Usually we're just like the Waltons, though. We all get along and quietly whisper "goodnight" to each other as we file out each evening.
