A friend sent me this. It was a good read but didn't acknowledge that Mormondumb is experiencing the same exodus for the same reasons:

"...the church is overprotective, their experience of Christianity is shallow, churches seem antagonistic to science, the church’s approach to sexuality is judgmental and simplistic, they wrestle with the exclusivity of Christianity, and the church feels unfriendly to those who doubt."

The article writer doesn't know the whole truth about the LDS church and how mormon marriages are failing, birth rates have dropped precipitously, growth, if any, in the US is almost entirely Spanish speaking, the pressures against leaving, and the inherent falseness of the underlying theology and history of TSCC. The article writer has zero knowledge of the difference between the rates of divorce for mormons depending on their temple worthiness and civil versus temple marriages. If the same measures were made for Christians one would know that comparing marriages to truly practicing Christians would compare favorably with temple worthy mormons on rate of divorce. The mormon claims are based on temple marriages and ignore the almost total rate of divorce amount those deemed unworthy. Mormons also exclude calculations from mormons who have left the church. Very convenient. The author also doesn't understand the exaggeration of mormon membership.

There is truth in that Christian churches are failing to adequately teach or discipline but this failure is curable because it is not theological and can change fairly quickly church by church to either improve or to decay. The members of individual congregations can change it. The larger Baptist groups have difficulties including disagreements over translations but even this will merely differentiate between those which will grow and those which will decline.

The mainline protestant churches are rapidly failing and decaying but those outside of the mainline churches are not declining. The vibrancy of churches both increases and wanes but because of the diversity, will surely outlast TSCC.

The Mormons have been proselytizing like crazy over there! Funny how a group of people can form a calling tree to get their testiphonies published!

Everyone should read the LDS responses and marvel at the bone-headed apologetics they employ!

TO ALL THE SCROOGES, DEMONIZERS, MARGINALIZERS, OUT THERE ;-)

David, excellent article. Thank you for your positiveness and upliftment of others when we live in a world of such moral decline and hatred – one to another. Which brings me to the Pharisee named “Gamaliel” found in the Book of Acts 5:34-39 for trying to put the Apostles to death:
“And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel (church) or this work (evangelizing) be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.”
It doesn’t matter who it is or what it is, if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it, period. If you try, then you are fighting against God. If you believe the Bible to be the literal word of God, then put the LDS church into the same litmus test. If the LDS church is of men, then it will come to nought; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it.

Wasn't Jesus "of God"?

He got "overthrown" by a bunch of Romans.

Oh, right.

But then he became Zombie Jesus, just to help save your argument.

Sure he did.
