If garments ffer physical protection, why do people get yeast infections from weaering them?

I remeber another post referred to it as crotch rot. Why do garments protect agains fires and knives yet contribute to hot-weather yeast breeding?

Ask Joseph and Hyrum Smith -- they removed the garment in
1844, because it was hot inside the jail and the fabric was
sticking to their loins.

A little after that the two prophets met with a hail of
bullets, and the rest is history.

Moral of story -- next time you're in jail, don't complain
about your sweaty underwear...

John Taylor as well, yes? That's the excuse for why he was injured as well? Yet if he had been wearing his, it would be an example of their protection because he didn't die.
