My education in the classics is woefully slim. I never read "Paradise Lost." But I encountered a mention of it in an essay about the show "Breaking Bad."

>>Milton’s Satan is the archetypal anti-hero. Injured for not being recognized by God, he leads a rebellion against the forces of Heaven. Rallying a third of the archangels of Heaven to defect..."

Whoa! That's very familiar.

it was published in 1667. Joe probably lifted that idea.

Thank Goddess or the Flying Spaghetti Monster or Whomever that Joseph Smith didn't try to compose the Book of Mormon in 17th century English-style blank verse. Can you imagine trying to rhyme "...and it came to pass" several thousand different ways?

" ...and it Came to Pass
That I, Nephi, felt liketh unto an ass"

"...and it Came to Pass
Yea, forsooth, Ammon hauled his Enemy's one-armed ass"

"...and it Came to Pass
With Godly Invective did Alma beat Korihor's ass"
